Lead Business Technology Architect will manage overall architecture, software designs, standards, and technical roadmaps of the Global Investment and Corporate Banking space. The lead architect will work on both strategic and tactical fronts: setting strategic direction working in close association with business and enterprise architects as well as guiding solution architecture with development and architecture teams to support delivery of projects in alignment with target state.

The candidate for this role will provide high quality, cost effective services to clients within scope of responsibility, oversee the business information systems activities while balancing technological and operational needs with financial control and communication needs. Will also establish and maintain working relationship with all businesses across Technology and technology team members.


  • Actively engage business and technology partners on technical designs and roadmaps

  • Promote technology standards that align to firmwide architecture, cloud adoption, and common development tools.  Identify and pursue exceptions with a metrics based rationale.  Participate and influence those same technical standards so that developer contributions are fed upwards.

  • Create, govern and evangelize the technical architecture with the respective stakeholders on both business and technology

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Application Development teams to create architectural principles, standards and guidelines

  • Foster continuous improvement through the introduction of best practices 

  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions including vendor software packages/services and make recommendations.

  • Realize greater utilization of container and cloud deployment strategies.

  • Design an application ecosystem of services and messaging, with an appropriate support model, RTO, and resiliency SLAs that match the importance of each respective application data model and requirement.

  • Requirements:

    • 10+ years of experience in IT including at least 7 years in Architecture roles

    • 5+ years with mobile, web technologies, Java, .NET, and SOA

    • 5+ years of using Messaging, NoSQL and Analytics

    • 3+ years of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, OpenStack)

    • 3+ years of experience in Financial industry

    • Experience with Big Data is a plus (MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop)

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact with stakeholders across all levels of the organization

    • Expertise in working in complex cross-domain applications in a global organization across multiple time zones

    • Good communication and presentation skills, able to translate complex ideas into easily understandable themes for all technical and non-technical members of the organization

    • Solid Leadership experience in managing large cross-functional teams and the flexibility to influence people at a variety of levels internally and externally

    • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or similar discipline, Master degree preferred
