The position is with IKA. You will be a part of the creation of a first-ever VR/AR World of Science and Technology experience; a collaborative Virtual and Augmented Reality gaming platform between industry leading scientists and universities for one of the world’s biggest industries. We are seeking a full-time Network Programmer (100% remote) to join our dedicated team. We need your expertise in creating fun and engaging multiplayer systems to thrill a whole new audience of scientists. The IKA laboratory, as well as the analytical and processing divisions, currently have around 900 employees, and continue to offer a wide range of innovative equipment for numerous applications in research and development, as they have over 100 years. Responsibilities:Implement solutions to synchronize gameplayAnalyze and optimize bandwidth usage and latency effectsDevelop highly scalable, secure and available connectivity servicesCreate clear documentation to transfer knowledge and simplify maintenanceCooperate closely with our gameplay programmers to ensure multiplayer compatibilityRecognize opportunities to improve our application or general workflows, and seek to make these changesRequired Qualifications and Skills:3+ years of C/C++ experience2+ years of experience in client-server programming, ideally related to video gamesExperience in IP network protocols (TCP and UDP)Experience in database development (MySQL, Oracle, ... )Experience with replication, arbitration, bandwidth, load balancing and multiplayer conceptsExperience with 3D game enginesSelf-sufficiencyBS (or higher) in Computer Science or a similar discipline (i.e. Physics, Math, EE, etc.)Strong verbal and written communication skills in English Desirable Qualifications and Skills:Unreal Engine experienceExperience in implementing VoIPShipped console/PC title experienceVR and/or AR experience as a developer or userFamiliar with: JSON, XML, JavaScript, and/or Python Benefits and Pay/Additional information:Comprehensive benefits package for employee and familyEquity offered for the VR/AR divisionCompetitive compensationRelocation and visa/immigration support will be provided by the company for the employee and their familyThe company is located close to France, Switzerland, the Black Forest, and the Alps for those who like to travel or do outdoor activities on weekends All office communications are in Englishcontact:
