Position Overview: 

The Developer I will assist in the maintenance, development and implementation of existing software systems and/or applications for market sale.Participates in the full development life cycle and consults with senior peers on non-complex projects.

Essential Functions:         

  • Analyzes code to find causes of errors and refactors existing code to perform more optimally

  • Creates new code for cPanel products and internal systems used to support, distribute or maintain those products

  • Documents code changes

  • Participates in software design meetings and works with other developers on projects

Additional Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to coding and development standards and practices provided by cPanel

  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of the company

  • Math Knowledge - knowledge of arithmetic and algebra

  • Technical Skills -

    • Programming language fundamentals in Perl; Git; bug tracking, troubleshooting; Linux command line usage

  • Education/Experience - High School diploma or equivalent

    • Six months to two years of Linux / BSD / *nix system troubleshooting or a related certification (RHCE)

    • Six months to two years of Perl development experience

  • Travel - Occasional local and/or overnight travel may be required

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Ability to work in an office environment. Specific abilities required by this job include: Near vision; hearing; ability to transport oneself as needed throughout the day; ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal, for extended periods of time; manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination); repetitive arm/ hand movements.

cPanel is a 24/7 operation and nontraditional or extended hours (including weekends) may be required occasionally and with minimal notice
